If you remember, last month we were still struggling with our electric bill. It was 3 times higher than it had ever been with previous tenants! So, I presented a challenge here to myself to compare the breaker box and the meter in order to completely turn off the energy source when not in use. I was determined to make, it a habit to go down into the creepy basement as often as needed to save on our bill. Turns out, it was even easier than expected! 4 out of the 7 breakers were not necessary for our daily functioning!!! I didn’t have to make several trips a day downstairs! Just flip off 4 breakers and that was it!
And our electric bill this month is…
…drum roll please…
$91.82!!!
Ladies and gentlemen, that is a
46% decrease from last month!!!
That was after decreasing by 30% the previous month!
Mama’s happy. 🙂
I do realize that this is spring time and everyone saw a decrease in their electric bill, but I do not think, that every one saw such a dramatic decrease. Either way, I plan to continue monitoring ours each month and finding additional ways to cut back.
Why don’t you play the breaker box game this month and let us know how it goes for you?

Wow! My tiny apartment was $108, but I do live in FL. The air is always on. I am visiting back from FF. I was going to follow you, but I don’t see a Goggle Friend Connect box anywhere. : ( I will try to stop by again later. I would love to hear your money saving ideas!
I feel like I should thank you Alison! I have never seen your house (still – sad shame on me) but I’ll bet your house is twice as big as this one making your $75 bill even more impressive!
